Disaster in Japan is causing major problems for automakers around the world. General Motors has closed down a U.S. plant, Toyota is down in Japan and Nissan is testing vehicles for radioactive particles. (March 18)

Hmm, maybe Detroit can survive after all. We might not be able to compete with Japanese labor prices, but we should be able to compete with the Germans (even if they do make really nice cars). Though, South Korea is still in the game…
