US says it will veto any Palestinian statehood bid at the UN Security Council – The Washington Post

The Obama administration says it will veto any bid by the Palestinians to seek statehood recognition at the U.N. Security Council.

The administration had long said it opposed such a unilateral move by the Palestinians. The U.S. has been working to prevent a Palestinian resolution from coming before the council.

Until now, Washington had not explicitly said it would use its veto to prevent passage. On Thursday, State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said that if the issue comes to a vote in the Security Council, the U.S. will veto it.

Israel opposes the statehood push as well.

Nuland says the U.S. view is that the Palestinian effort is misguided and that statehood should come only as a result of negotiations with Israel.

Did we tell the Jews in the holocaust that survival should only come from negotiations with the Nazi Party? No? Then why the HELL are we saying that the Palestinians should only get statehood through negotiations with the country that has systematically taken their land, marginalized them, and killed thousands (if not more) of their people (never mind attacking OUR Navy (USS Liberty Incident))? This kind of behavior is absolutely sickening, and is precisely why I can hardly view the actions of Iran (internationally…they’re pretty twisted when it comes to their own people) as all that extreme when considered in context. If we are to stand by the oppressive Zionist regime, we can do nothing except expect further attacks from the people we are marginalizing every day. 10 years later, and nothing has been learned.

…And to think, Israel didn’t get THEIR statehood through negotiations with Palestine, but through the direct intervention of Uncle Sam and the Union Jack… This isn’t about religion (or race), it’s about occupation for the the positioning of military actions, and better yet (for the US), proxy wars. The most devout Jews I meet are regularly the most vehemently anti-zionist people I’ve come across…don’t buy the propaganda.
