KANDAHAR, Afghanistan Reuters – At least 10 people have been killed and 83 wounded in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar, officials said on Saturday, on a second day of violent protests over the burning of a Koran by a radical fundamentalist Christian in the United States.

So, this guy keeps threatening to burn Korans, and we have concrete proof of actual deaths resulting from his speech/expression, which is in general nothing but inflammatory in nature. Meanwhile, Julian Assange’s head is being called for by a number of world leaders, even though there have yet to be any deaths resulting from his speech/publishing, and even though he was merely running a journalistic company seeking free and open government. I’m all for the First Amendment in both cases, but if we’re going to pick and choose, I don’t particularly think we’re doing a very good job of it… Just my two cents.

Very good commentary on a lot of topics, particularly interesting to those involved or interested in the same goals as the Pirate Party or the Electronic Frontier Foundation. For those not familiar, that means, Intellectual Property, Privacy, and Free Speech, among other things. Worth a watch.
